The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted heavy rain and winds to hit Tasmania's east throughout Thursday.

A severe weather warning has been issued for the North East, East Coast and South East regions as well as the Furneaux Islands and Midlands.
As of 10.30am, the highest rainfall in the state was at Monameta with 50mm recorded, according to BOM meteorologist Alex Melitsis.
"Over the coming hours we are expecting those totals [rainfall] to rise," he said.
The East Coast is expected to receive between 40-80mm of rain; BOM has even forecast as much as 100mm to fall in certain, isolated areas.
The coast is also expected to received 70-80km/h northwesterly winds.

There is a minor flood warning in place for the South Esk River, BOM has also issued a flood watch for catchments in the North East and East Coast.
BOM has also issued a road weather alert for areas experiencing heavy rainfall.
Rain levels will drop on Friday, with about 15-25mm for the North West and West Coast, and 2-10mm in central areas.
However, Friday night is predicted to bring with it storms and hail in the North and North West.
BOM has predicted the rain will continue into the weekend, and snow levels will be at about 800m.
