Angus Lyle Auton was jailed for the 2015 New Year's Eve fatal hit and run, but was released from Risdon Prison last month after serving half of his sentence.

On the night of the crash, a 21-year-old Auton was speeding, while drunk and under the influence of drugs.
He had never held a license.
The Darwin Supreme Court in 2016 heard Auton had dumped his car after the crash, and tried to buy more drugs before he was arrested.

He pleaded guilty to charges of Drive a Motor Vehicle to Cause Harm or Death and Hit and Run Driving Causing Death, and was convicted and sentenced to five years and seven months behind bars.
Auton served the first few years of his sentence in the Northern Territory, where he had lived for a decade, but was transferred to Tasmania where he was originally from last year.
Releasing its decision this week, the Parole Board of Tasmania said Auton claimed to now be drug-free and had "prospects for rehabilitation".
"While the applicant has been assessed as requiring a high level of intervention by Communication Corrections due to his history and illicit drug use, he appears to show insight into his offending and the impact of his actions on others," the board wrote.
"The applicant appeared motivated to move forward with his life, gain independence and security through appropriate employment and not return to his previous drug related offending and behaviour."
He was paroled on February 18, and will remain on parole until April 30, 2022.
