He also lost his brother to a heroin overdose about two years ago.
Mr Parry said his mate came up with the idea to raise $100,000 for men's suicide prevention by riding across the country on 125cc Honda monkey bikes.
"We did it ... raise awareness and prevention of men's suicide," he said."The reaction was huge, the experience that we had along the way was very humbling."
He joined Mr Hayes on the journey from Adelaide and then flew back home from Perth.
The pair had previously completed off-road adventures rides together in America.
Mr Parry said he was blown away by the level of support they received on this journey.
"We didn't realise that the channel was that big," he said.
"We didn't realise that we had that much of an impact in people's lives.
"There is a lot of people which suffer depression and things like that and it does lead to suicide."
He said trip took about five days.
"On arriving at Perth we probably had about 30 of 40 bikes actually join us at different points leading into Perth and it absolutely blew us away," Mr Parry said.
"When we got to Perth there were about 200 people waiting just to congratulate us."
