All Tasmanian National Park campgrounds will be closed from midnight on Wednesday, forcing popular overnight or multi-day walks such as the Overland Track to stop.

All existing campers will be required to vacate the campground as "soon as practical".
This includes walkers on sites such as the Overland Track, Walls of Jerusalem National Park, Maria Island, Frenchmans Cap and South Coast Track.

A Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service spokesperson said all sites would be monitored by staff.
"The Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service is committed to ensuring the safety of our visitors while we face the challenges of COVID-19," they said.
"Following the Tasmanian Government's measures on social distancing and public gatherings, all PWS campgrounds around the state will close at midnight Wednesday ... until further notice."
