The fuel reduction burn was due to start this week east of Lefroy nearby the Forest Reserve.
The George Town Council released a statement on Facebook on Monday about the postponement.
"Parks and Wildlife [Services] advise fuel reduction burn for Lefroy has been postponed until further notice," they said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The postponed controlled burn was a part of the Tasmania-wide Fuel Reduction Program.
Once rescheduled the fire will total 315 hectares and will take about two or three days, according to the TFS.
Fuel reduction burns are done to lessen the risk of an uncontrolled fire in prone areas and to reduce the heat of a fire if one does start during the fire season.
A new date has not been set as of yet for the controlled burn.
