Mersey independent MLC Mike Gaffney will push ahead with the introduction of his voluntary assisted dying bill to the Legislative Council this year.

But he added priorities for the Parliament will be dictated by the coronovirus pandemic.
"I will be continue working on the bill, however, under such circumstances issues will need to be considered and progressed in the best interests of all Tasmanians," he said.
"I have really good communication channels and links with many individuals and organisations.
"Those conversations will continue in the background, but obviously in light of the current anxiety in the community, it will be done sensitively."
He said the pandemic should not stop the process of law reform.
"Those in the community who are suffering intolerably with a serious, incurable and irreversible, disease, injury or illness I still believe deserve the right to choose and I will be introducing legislation when appropriate," Mr Gaffney said.
