Chief executive Barb Walters said fishers, processors, and their families and staff needed support during these stressful times, which can be found in the 24/7 phoneline service offered as part of the Staying Afloat Program.

"We have been working this program before Covid-19 but certainly the need for it has escalated and it is a higher priority given the current situation," she said.

"It is really important that family members also get the same support ... there isn't always a clear line between home and work, partners are involved in the business and everyone is relying on that one source of income."
