The latest building and construction industry forecast, released on Monday, estimates a 12.6 per cent expansion in 2020/21, peaking at almost $4 billion the following financial year.
This will be driven by commercial and engineering construction projects, while residential works is approaching an expected peak.
Master Builders Tasmania executive director Matthew Pollock said the industry would need to expand its workforce to meet this demand and to help overcome the "short-term" challenges presented in early 2020.
"Businesses who might be challenged in the short run can be confident that there is plenty of work coming up to support your business and workers," he said.
More on coronavirus:
"We are going to need more people in the construction workforce in the next few years than ever before.
"These forecasts show that the construction industry will play a growing and increasingly important role as a jobs creator for Tasmanians and will continue to support the state's strong economy.
"What the last few years have shown us is that a strong economy and a strong construction industry go hand-in-hand, and this is set to continue for the foreseeable future."
Population growth to the tune of 6000 over the year to June 2019 also indicated that construction activity will continue to experience growth, with 2000 new residents moving to Tasmania from the mainland per year in recent years.
