In a statement, the organisation said the federal government's ban on public gatherings involving more than 500 people would cancel out services in major centres and could lead to people travelling to regional service which would in turn raise numbers to an unacceptable level.
"Our major concern is for the safety and wellbeing of the community at large, and also for our own members, many of whom fall within the vulnerable categories," it said.
The decision to cancel all commemorative services was made by the RSL Tasmania board on Sunday.

"In the interests of public safety, we encourage those local councils and other community organisations who host Anzac Day services to follow our lead and reconsider their plans in the best interests of their own communities," the organisation said.
