Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton tested positive for the coronavirus after a trip to the United States, and has been in close contact with the Prime Minister who attended the meeting with every state and territory leader.

However, Premier Peter Gutwein said he was not too concerned.

"I've taken advice this morning," he said on Saturday.

"I've had no close personal contact with anybody who has been symptomatic with the disease, and therefore I don't need to be tested."

Meanwhile, Alana Hoskinson, who was quarantined after coming into contact with infected people on cruise ship the Diamond Princess, said the government had not applied the same rules to itself as it applied to her.

Ms Hoskinson was quarantined on the cruise ship for 14 days and was then put in a further quarantine at the federal government's directive at Howard Springs near Darwin.

"What [on earth] - Dutton tests positive, however, the Prime Minister and cabinet are not going to self-isolate even though they have been in meetings with the Home Affairs Minister," she said.

"They had us locked up for 29 days in case we had been in contact with someone infected.

"Bloody hypocrites. They are supposed to be our leaders and lead by example - why should any one self isolate if they ignore their own rules?"
