Premier Peter Gutwein said on Saturday the government had "considered a range of future scenarios".
"In terms of the non-essential mass gatherings, there's quite a difference between 5000 people congregating for two to three hours at a football match, and 20 to 30 children being in a classroom during the course of a day," he said.
"The advice at the moment is that there is no requirement for schools to be closed, but we will continue to receive advice on these matters."
He said the government was "well-prepared" should a school need to close, but those decisions would be made on a case-by-case basis.
