The Examiner, Australia's third-oldest surviving newspaper (1842), began seven-day publication in 1925 with the appearance of The Saturday Evening Express which was published until 1984 when it was replaced by The Sunday Examiner.
Over that time there have been many changes to the way we have delivered it, and after listening to subscriber feedback, we have decided to overhaul the region's number one Sunday read.
From today, The Sunday Examiner has taken on a new look with a focus to deliver to our loyal subscribers - both print and digital - more content from North and North-West Tasmania, the nation and the world.
Human interest stories that matter to you, analysis of key issues that affect you and opinions that will create debate and provoke thoughts about the region's communities that matter to you.
That's what inspires and drives our dedicated team of editors, journalists and photographers to carry out their duties every day.
Whether we're holding the powerful to account or celebrating the people striving to make the region a better place to live, our role is to keep Tasmanians informed, entertained and connected.
As a further nod to our proud tradition of telling the stories of North and North-West Tasmania, we have created a new segment called Times Past on page 2 of every Sunday edition to revisit an interesting episode from the region's history.
Elsewhere today, you'll find regular favourites such as Brian Wightman, letters, editorial, Our History, Danielle Blewett, Brian Roe and all your Saturday sports stories and more.
We have introduced a new weekly comic strip, Dilbert, on a new-look comics page.
Written and illustrated by Scott Adams and published in more than 2000 newspapers and in 19 languages in 57 countries, the satirical office comedy follows the white-collar adventures of engineer Dilbert and his kooky co-workers.
We have added in a travel with Explore section, book and film reviews and allowed more room to fit in a greater amount of sports details from racing, golf, footy, cricket, bowls and more depending on the season.
Award-winning journalist Joanne McCarthy and former The Examiner deputy editor and Liberal advisor Barry Prismall have joined our line-up of columnists, while we have included a new four-page TV guide to get you through the week.
On behalf of the editorial and advertising sales teams of The Sunday Examiner, thank you, our loyal audiences and advertisers, for your continuing support - both online and in print.
We hope you enjoy these changes and we welcome your feedback.
