The decision was made on Friday in the wake of the federal government's call to ban public gatherings of greater than 500 people over fears of the spread of Coronavirus.
"With all this new information, we have no choice but to postpone," BMX Australia said in a statement.
The event that is returning for the first time since 1994 was scheduled to draw in thousands of riders and fans to Launceston BMX Club.

Officials say all entry fees are expected to be automatically refunded back over the course of the next 7-10 days.
BMX Australia has started scrambling to reschedule the nationals that will include the Oceania championships later in the year to again be held at the St Leonards track.
"We are currently working very hard with relevant stakeholders regarding plans for the future staging of events, with an aim towards the last quarter of the year, and we intend to provide an update early next week," the statement said.
