As part of the Heritage Snap! awards, the City of Launceston council is asking students to show what elements of Launceston and its heritage inspires them.
"Through this competition, the council hopes to inspire young people to take a real interest in our beautiful city's built heritage by focusing on specific details and attributes that are often overlooked," mayor Albert van Zetten said.
"Generally, we want to see our built heritage retained, but we also understand that some structures are valued more than others, and some may have seen better days."
IN OTHER NEWS:
The council wants to see photos of places in and around Launceston that interest school students and hear if they should be kept as they are, repaired, altered in some way, removed or replaced.
"Most importantly, we want to hear why," Cr van Zetten said.
This year's competition has a three image limit per student. Prizes will be awarded in four sections: a primary school section, grades 7 - 10 section, grades 11-12 section and a people's choice.
Entries are now open and close on April 30 at 4pm. All entries will be online at the council's website. An awards ceremony will be held at Macquarie House on Thursday May 28.
