A man was shot in his home in Guy Street in the early hours of Wednesday.
Later that afternoon, a search involving officers on the ground and in the air led police to arresting two men over the shooting.
A 27-year-old Rocherlea man, and 34-year-old St Leonards man were taken into custody.
The 44-year-old victim who was shot in the pelvis remained at the Launceston General Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, having suffered non-life threatening injuries.
As part of investigations into the Kings Meadows incident, as well as a shooting at a South Launceston address the night prior, police also took four others into custody on Wednesday.
The Normanstone Road incident involved a gun being fired into a home on Tuesday about 6.30pm.
A man was inside at the time, but not physically injured.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Police believed the shooting was the result of a dispute between neighbours, and not related to Wednesday's shooting at Kings Meadows.
Launceston CIB Detective Inspector Craig Fox said those in custody were known to the 44-year-old Kings Meadows victim, describing it as a "targeted attack".
There has been at least seven firearm-related incidents across Launceston since the beginning of the year.
In January, there was a drive-by shooting at Longford.
Later that month, police were called to two separate shooting incidents in one night, with two men ending up at the Launceston General Hospital with gunshot wounds.
In February, shots were fired through the window of a house at Kings Meadows and a man was shot in the arm at Underwood.
"It is a small element of our community that are committing these crimes, they live in a world of drugs and violence," Detective Inspector Fox said.
"The average person going about their day in Launceston is still very safe."
Northern District Commander Brett Smith said there had not only been an increase in firearm-related crimes, but in firearm thefts.
"The incidents we have seen arising involve not only stolen firearms, but we have also found a number of firearms that have never been registered, and a number of firearms that have been homemade," he said.
"We are pretty confident that a lot of people in the community know of illegal firearms and we are asking those people to come forward with information.
"Firearms in the wrong hands are dangerous."
While police will continue their regular firearm audits, Commander Smith urged gun owners to lock up.
"The thefts are largely from licenced firearm holders, we would like to remind all firearm owners to make sure they have good security ... in order to minimise the risk of theft."
Nobody had been charged over the Kings Meadows shooting on Wednesday afternoon.
Anyone with information about that incident, or the incident at South Launceston should contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
