The failure to score after quarter-time coincided with Oakleigh booting seven goals in the second term to run out 16.8 (104) to 0.2 (2) victors at North Hobart Oval.
The shellacking had come against a side in their fourth year of the Victorian-based under-18s female program, but Devils assistant coach Jodie Clifford said that it was all a part of a learning curve.
"We were under no illusions that this was going to be a really tough contest and it was," Clifford said.
The Chargers outfit proved just too slick with their ball movement on a historic day for Tasmanian football.

The initial 10 minutes indicated a tight contest after the Chargers were only able to goal twice in the first quarter until getting a "little bit lost".
"The second quarter just wasn't what it should be and they set the game up then, but our first quarter I thought we played really well considering it was our first NAB League game," Clifford said.
Clifford took positives out the 17-goal loss after a 42-18 tackle count demonstrated the Devils' doggedness while the defence stood tall after Chargers had 35 entries into the forward 50 to just 10.
"For a lot of our girls, this was a big step up," she said.
"We always took it as an opportunity to learn and an opportunity to be able to grow and adapt to this level."
