A Tasmanian wool seller said results from last week's wool sales were positive, despite a ransomware attack which caused a large quantity to be put on the market.

Sales began again last week after an attack on the software company, used by the majority of Australia and New Zealand's wool industry to buy and sell product, halted sales in the last week of February.

Despite some concerns the larger quantity could affect prices, Nathan Chugg from the Tasmanian branch of the Australian Wool Network said the market which turned out had been strong.
"As far as I'm concerned the market that opened up was fairly strong," he said.

He said they had sold almost all of the wool they had in the sale and the hack didn't end up affecting them very much.
Australian Wool Exchange chief executive Mark Grave said it was important to get sales back up this week.
"Nationally we held a two day sale in the North, the West and the South, with just over 60,000 bales on offer," he said.
He said although the market softened on Thursday, the interest shown on Wednesday showed good competition in the market.
