Several youths who climbed onto the roof of the Ashley Youth Detention Centre on Friday afternoon did not come down until nearly 11pm.
The incident was first reported by police about 5.30pm, with the youths refusing to come down off the roof.
At the time, no one was reported injured.
Police confirmed the youths removed themselves from the roof of the centre "of their own volition" about 10.45pm.
The incident comes after a three-hour standoff between staff and detainees in December, when three male youths climbed onto the roof and caused about $20,000 damage.
