It is understood the show is filming for its upcoming season at a property at Prospect.

The City of Launceston council chief executive Michael Stretton said while it is a unique situation for the city, it has been treated the same as any other construction project, with necessary permits granted for the temporary structures.

"We trust the production team will be considerate of neighbours, and that's certainly the intention they've flagged to us," he said.

"We have had a few questions from interested people, but no outstanding issues at this stage. It's something a bit different for Launceston, and we'll be watching with interest."

HOW HOUSE RULES WORKS:

Contestants renovate other contestant's houses each week. When the contestant whose house it is gets renovated, the owners do not take part and leave other competitors to renovate their whole house.

Contestants are left with a number of rules that are used to guide the competitors in what they want their completed houses to look like when they return.

They are then judged on how the contestants have interpreted the rules.

While there have been contestants from Tasmania on the show before, it is understood it is the first time the program has been filmed in the North.

Jamie Durie will move on from his role as judge to become the show's host.

Eight teams are expected to take part in the series' ninth season.

The season is expected to air later this year.
