With 14 lives lost, Road Safety Advisory Council chairman Garry Bailey has urged people to take care on the roads during the busier long weekend period.
"Driving is the most dangerous thing many of us do every day and because we do it every day, we can become complacent," Mr Bailey said.
"Make sure you don't start your journey tired; driving is a complex task that requires a high level of concentration and fatigue makes it harder to concentrate."

Mr Bailey encouraged travellers to stop and rest at driver reviver sites across Tasmania.
"Take a break on Monday at driver reviver sites staffed by SES volunteers throughout Tasmania, where free tea and coffee will be available," he said.
"These SES volunteers don't have a long weekend with their friends and families, instead they're giving up their time to provide a valuable service to help us all get home safely."
