The original plan would have seen a 500-space parking lot built on the land.

A UTAS spokesperson said the university was working with council to develop a new strategy.
"The University and Launceston City Council are working closely on a parking strategy for the Inveresk Precinct, which will be shared in the coming weeks," they said.
"We look forward to providing a multi-location parking response which meets demand as the community at Inveresk continues to grow. It will support the mixed use of the area as a place to welcome students, staff and public, in addition to the exciting events hosted onsite."
"We encourage the community to visit the Northern Transformation website for ongoing updates."
