The refurbishment was one of the Northern midland Council's identified priority projects in 2019.
The development at 16 Blenheim Street will include new play equipment, such as a tractor-slide, a sheep shaped rocker and a basket swing to incorporate a farm theme.
The council also plans to plant trees for shade and install rubber soft fall pads, synthetic grass and two benches at the site.
In the council's 2019 priority projects document it said it was seeking funding partners to enable the purchase and installation of the new children's playground at the site for a quoted $42,700.
However this was without the added basket swing and other additions included in the site's refurbishment.
The council's development application was available for public comment until March 2.
