The Norwood resident was born on February 29 in 1924.
Because Mr Chapman came into the world in a leap year and on a date which only occurred every four years, he said he was often asked about when he celebrated his birthday in non-leap years.
"In non-leap years it's quite easy actually," he said.
"People expect me to say I celebrate on February 28 or March 1.
"I was not born on February 28 so its got to be March 1."
To celebrate his birthday in 2020, Mr Chapman enjoyed a few wines and a delicious lunch with his family and friends at the Josef Chromy restaurant in Relbia.
"I'm buggered if I know," he said when asked what the secret to living a long life was.
"I've had quite a few illnesses, but I'm very lucky because I'm an ex-serviceman and the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) look after me very well.
"All my medical expenses are paid by DVA."

Mr Chapman joined the armed forces as an 18-year-old and served in World War II.
When his time in the military came to an end he studied agriculture.
"I finished that and I was at sort of at a little bit of a loose end and I didn't know what to do.
"Eventually I saw a job advertised in Tasmania and I thought 'oh that wouldn't be bad, I could go over there for a couple of years'."
Mr Chapman worked in the public service for more than 30 years.
He remains living independently with his wife Rosemary.
