Dr Brown said "it was lucky no one was killed" when "pro-logging vigilantes repeatedly rammed and seriously damaged a Tarkine forest defenders vehicle" on Friday night.
He said the car was being driven by activist Lisa Searle and two passengers, who were on their way to the forest defenders' camp south of Smithton.

Dr Searle described the attack as an "ambush".
"Last night when we were ambushed by aggressive pro-logging vigilantes, it was scary and we feared for our lives," she said.
"This is cowardly vigilante violence against peaceful protesters," Dr Brown said.
"The men involved will be known to police because the number plate of one of the two vehicles involved in the attack was noted."
Smithton Police Constable Lee Taousanis said the matter is being investigated.
"Sumac activists have come to the Smithton Police Station to make a statement in regards to a traffic collision, and that is being investigated."
