Evandale resident and penny farthing rider Jeff McClintock said ex-cricketer Kieren 'Beefy' Blake would be one of 55 riders taking part in this year's championships.
Mr McClintock moved to Evandale from Hobart 20 years ago and instantly fell in love with the penny farthing bicycles.
"I was completely enthralled by the spectacle of it," he said.
"I met a local resident who had a bike and they taught me how to ride."
