Organised by the Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise, the Launceston Responds: Helping our Mates event saw generous locals pull a sold-out event together in a couple of days.
All 400 event tickets were sold within three days event organiser Danny Gibson said.
"It makes me incredibly proud to call myself a Northern Tasmanian when you see a response like this, because we are clearly a very giving community," he said.
On Wednesday, the rotary club handed the $82,000 cheque to Rotary Tasmania's incoming district governor Michael Plunkett.

He said the money would be put into the Rotary Australia World Community Services fund which has already raised more than $1 million.
Rotary clubs can apply to the fund and complete projects in their community.
"It was put together in a very short period of time and the event has exceeded their expectations," he said.
Mr Gibson said his highest hope was that this sum will make some positive differences for small and tightknit communities who have been doing it tough in the wake of the bushfire crisis.
"As the scale of the bushfire crisis gripping Australia became clear in early January, we began reaching out to members of our community to see if we could work together to provide some meaningful support to those people impacted," he said.
"I happened to be overseas at the time and I was absolutely blown away by the support we had from suppliers, retailers, service providers and members of the public, who collectively pulled together to make this event happen."
The event was held at the Tailrace Centre last month.
