Dating back to 1842 as Australia's third-oldest surviving newspaper, The Examiner began seven-day publication in 1925 with the appearance of The Saturday Evening Express, which was published until 1984 when it was replaced by The Sunday Examiner. Over that time there have been many changes to the way we have delivered your news and, after listening to subscriber feedback, we have decided to refresh the region's best Sunday reading experience.
From today, The Sunday Examiner takes on a new look with a focus on providing our loyal subscribers - both in print and online - with more news, sport and features from North and North-West Tasmania.

There's more to read, more to enjoy. Human interest stories that matter to you, analysis of key issues that affect you and opinions that will create debate, provoke thoughts and advocate for positive change in the communities that matter to you.
That's what drives our dedicated team of editors, journalists and photographers to carry out their duties. Whether we're holding the powerful to account or celebrating those striving to make the region a better place to live, our role is to keep locals informed, entertained and connected.
As a nod to our proud tradition of telling the stories of North and North-West Tasmania, we have created a new segment called Times Past that revisits an interesting episode from the region's history.
Elsewhere, you'll find favourites such as Brian Wightman, letters, the editorial, Our History, Danielle Blewett, Brian Roe and the comprehensive Saturday sports round-up.
We have introduced a new weekly comic strip, Dilbert, on a new-look comics page. Written and illustrated by Scott Adams and published in more than 2000 newspapers and in 19 languages in 57 countries, the satirical office comedy follows the white-collar adventures of engineer Dilbert and his kooky co-workers.
We have also added travel with Explore, as well as book and film reviews and made room to fit in more results from racing, golf, footy, cricket, bowls and more, depending on the season.
Award-winning journalist Joanne McCarthy and former Examiner deputy editor and political advisor Barry Prismall have joined our line-up of columnists, while we have included a new weekly TV guide.
The editorial and sales teams of The Sunday Examiner want to thank you, our loyal audiences and advertisers, for your continuing support both in print and online through examiner.com.au.
