World 300mm tree-felling champion Deloraine's Daniel Gurr will lead the charge but will be more focused on his time, rather than winning, as he will have to overcome a monumental handicap just to catch Chudleigh's front-markers.

A bumper entry for the tree-felling has necessitated two heats instead of a straight-out final, which means Gurr will have to be at his best in his heat if he wants to qualify for the final and another vital hit-out.

Regardless of who makes the final, the bonus for spectators will be the opportunity to see the most spectacular form of competitive woodchopping three times.

Gurr's father Matthew is also a former multiple world tree-felling champion and can still give his son a run for his money in what should be an entertaining highlight.

Starting at 11am, the program will take on an international and interstate flavour with Welsh competitors Luke Bray and Kristy Bufton entered, along with Victorian Scott Anderson.

Bufton will take on world women's 275mm underhand champion Amanda Beams, of Winkleigh, in her pet event, which has attracted interest from competitors from around the state.

Beams' husband Dale will be aiming to continue his winning streak in the only championship of the day, the Chudleigh Show 325mm standing championship - an event he has dominated in recent years.
