Mr Henty served as Cityprom's chief executive for nearly three years - he said the holiday period gave him time to reflect on his position, and deemed it was the right moment for him to leave the organisation.

"Effectively I've looked at what we've [Cityprom] done and the changes we've put forward ... I'm really proud of the changes we've been able to put into that organisation," he said.

"I've looked at that from a change-making perspective and thought I've actually achieved a lot of what I came to do.

"With that organisation it tends to be flat-out, [working] 12 months of the year but the early part of the year is a time for reflection."

Mr Henty said his resignation was not related to the current review the City of Launceston council is conducting.

"I'm more than confident that the review will highlight some of the really great things that the organisation is doing," he said.

Mr Henty said the thing he'd miss the most from working with Cityprom was his team.

"That's been one of the greatest teams I've every worked with," he said.

"Their professionalism and their belief and that drive to bring that organisation to where it is today has been fantastic, I've loved working with them for every minute of it."

Mr Henty said CBD projects around revitalising the Kingsway, upper St John Street and York Town Square were great developments to be a part of.

"One of my great passions is place making and people-centric design and creating city centres that are around that attract people, and this has been a really fantastic opportunity to utilise those skills," he said.

"Challenging our city to be progressive and move forward - that's been a really exciting part of the roll and I've loved all of it."

Mr Henty said he plans to reflect on the direction of his career now that he has some free time.
