In a returning fixture that teammate Daria Bannister will watch from the sidelines at UTAS Stadium for a second year in a row, the North Melbourne-Tasmanian Kangaroos are intending to bounce back in Launceston against the GWS Giants.

Green took no part in the two-point loss to Melbourne on Sunday, but believes she is in the mix despite coach Scott Gowans yet to indicate the chances of adding to the five Kangaroos rookies from their opening-round match.

"It would be really good to play this week in front of the home crowd, but regardless of selection I am happy just to be a part of this AFLW program," Green said.

"But yeah, I'm still putting my hand up pretty high this week to play. I had a good training last night and we have another Wednesday.

"So I know I will be pushing myself to the next level to make sure I get a game."

Green would be the first to express sympathy towards Bannister, who already was ruled out for the first of two Tassie games after undergoing surgery on Tuesday for a fractured clavicle.

The Launceston TSLW best-and-fairest winner for 2019 is out for at least three weeks in a second big injury from just four AFLW games.

Green said the seven other Tasmanians on the Roos' list are keen to play in a big stadium compared to home games at Arden Street.

"It's been hyped up, obviously, but it'll be a dream come true to play in front of a home crowd," she said.

"I know getting selection it will be just huge, really.

"For us Launceston girls, it is something that we have worked really hard for a long time, so the pay off would be very rewarding to play.

"But at the end of the day, we will all be having a run before the game with match simulation, even if we're not selected for the big game."

The 23-year-old could be in a selection battle with ex-basketballer Vivien Saad as a replacement this season for a pregnant Jess Duffin.

Green had been picked at selection 79 after she was encouraged by the AFLW club to nominate for the draft.

But the other Roos basketball convert - they originally targeted former Tornadoes star Tayla Roberts until a change of heart - paid tribute to Launceston coach Angela Dickson for turning her game from a novice into a talent.

The third year ended tragically with Blues' only loss of the TSLW season coming in the grand final, but Green said the work laid out at Windsor Park was a godsend towards a path to the AFLW.

"We had a very early preseason last year," Green said.

"That's where a lot of my fitness comes from and it set the standards really high.

"Throughout the season, she had just focused on not only individual success, but mainly on team success.

"That transitioned me well into the AFLW program because a lot of the benchmarks were kind of the same."
