Although he was beaten by Hello Rhonda over 452m at Devonport last week, trainer Paul Hili believes Nitro Sambar is better suited over the 515m in Launceston.
"You just can't give dogs of her quality a start in that kind of time (25.60)," Hili told the Greyhound Recorder.
"He's racing more like a 500m dog now.
"He goes well at all the tracks but Launceston is his favourite - he loves it."
Nitro Sambar, a winner of 8 of 15 at the track and distance, has drawn a very winnable heat and is $1.55 with tab.com.au.
Hello Rhonda, the defending Launceston Cup champion, is at $2.80 in the second heat, just shaded by unbeaten Amy Cora at $2.70.
Victorian visitor Caishen, early favourite for the final, is $1.60 to win his heat.
