Motorcycle ace Barry Lack, Australian sports sedan champion Kerry Baily, both of Hobart, and Launceston-based HQ Holden pioneer Ian Beechey, have been inducted into the Tasmanian Motorsport Hall of Fame.

The inductions were announced at a dinner at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Launceston on Saturday.
Beechey started circuit racing in a sports sedan in 1980 before switching to speedway sedans and winning the Super Sedan Classic at Latrobe in 1988.
He continued to attend circuit races in between speedway meets and came up with the concept of a low cost regulated class with limited modifications, using HQ Holdens, which were readily available and encouraged new drivers to the sport.
With the help of Spider Johnson, circuit promoters and others, the category thrived in Tasmania, attracting international interest after being televised on the support program of the Australian Touring Car Championship at Symmons Plains.
