Event co-ordinator Justin Brown said with vehicles both old and new, the event should attract anyone with a motoring itch they need to scratch.

"The event will appeal to anyone, really and we are aiming to educate the younger generations in a fun, relaxed family atmosphere about how far things have some when it comes to basically anything with a motor in it," he said.

The event will be held at the Longford Village Green, and pay homage to the town's rich motor racing history.

Longford Motorama and museum volunteer Rob Knott said there will be many historic cars, such as Mick Watt's Ford Anglia Special, that haven't been seen in public for a long time.

"There'll be stuff there that hasn't been seen for over 50 years ... we've managed to pick up two of the oldest cars with racing history - Probably got more history than any other race car that's been brought to Tasmania," he said.

"In the early days, 32,000 people turned out here in 1959 [for the racing], you're looking at close to 1/7 of the population at the time so it was a big event."

The day will also feature vintage bikes, boats and caravans as well as kids activities and refreshments.
