Launceston-based firm the noagroup will undertake the review, which will examine Cityprom's structure, business model and performance, against contemporary approaches to CBD marketing and activation.
Cityprom is funded by a compulsory annual levy from each business located in the CBD, and its mission is to enhance the experience of the Launceston central business district.
City of Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten said a great deal had changed in the 30 years since Cityprom was established.

"The retail industry worldwide is undergoing significant change and facing a number of challenges - including the significant rise of online shopping. Those same factors are also impacting our local industry and that's a challenge for everyone," he said.
"The review aims to provide clarity and confidence in marketing the city and assurance that Cityprom and its activities are still meeting the changing needs of the Launceston CBD."
The review process will include online surveys, meetings and discussions with retailers, businesses, property owners and other stakeholders.
"The review will give those retailers and property owners within the Cityprom boundaries of the CBD the opportunity to be heard and to have input into the way they believe the CBD should be marketed and promoted into the future," Mayor van Zetten said.
The review will cost an estimated $30,000.
