The fire in the Foochow Conservation area on the east coast of Flinders Island, which has burned 2736 hectares, is currently smouldering within containment lines.

A Parks and Wildlife Service spokesperson said they were aware of the report of an eagle's nest being destroyed.
"The [PWS] is investigating a report that a wedge-tailed eagle nest was destroyed during firefighting efforts on Flinders Island," the spokesperson said. "The PWS investigation will determine if and how this may have occurred."
The Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagle is classified as an endangered species and the total adult population is estimated to be less than 1000.
