Myrtle Park caretaker Jess Jackson said she bought the equipment herself using Afterpay, and had only just finished paying it off.
"I don't think that anyone realises that I'm not a paid council worker here," she said.
"I'm just trying to run my little business, and then we get robbed, and it's just too much for me.
"There's council signs everywhere, so people assume that [the equipment] must be council property.
"But it's all my stuff. Everything at this park belongs to the caretaker - if I leave the next caretaker will have to bring all their own stuff."
The equipment consisted of a projector, sound bar, and movie box.
Ms Jackson said she would look into community grants to replace the equipment, because she could not afford to do it herself.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"I'm studying social work and I just wanted to do something good for the community," she said.
"We were doing movie nights every Saturday night and it's been really good."
"I'm not sure what to do. I was hoping the person might return it if they find out it's my stuff, not council's.
"But I guess that doesn't really happen, does it?"
Ms Jackson was accepted by the City of Launceston Council as the caretaker of Myrtle Park in November 2018.
She has since tried to make the park a hub for community events, including a Day of the Dead celebration in November in collaboration with the Latin community.
She is a single mother who lived in public housing prior to Myrtle Park, and experienced a short period of homelessness prior to that after her landlord needed to sell the property she was renting.
The movie equipment theft is the third theft she has experienced at the park.
A Tasmania Police spokesperson said the theft had been reported.
