The Tasmanians' score of 7-120 - led by Hobart Hurricane Simon Milenko's 28 off 21 balls - wasn't to be enough as Metro's Ryan Hackney hit a commanding 35 off 39 balls.
Milenko was assisted by Harry Allanby (17), Sean Willis (16) and Charlie Wakim (15) in their innings, while the defence got off to a positive start with former George Town quick Gabe Bell claiming Ben Abbott in the first over.

All-rounder Allanby was able to grab two wickets in the chase, including the prized wicket of Hackney but it proved to be too late at 5-105, as the New South Welshmen chased the runs down in the 18th over.
Former Launceston bowler Ben Fraser claimed 1-14 off three as Mowbray's Jarrod Freeman took 1-23.
In their second contest of the day against Queensland, captain Charlie Wakim put his side's slow start past him to 115 off 68 as he and Sam Truloff (46 off 35) guided Tasmania to 7-172 in the first innings.
