The bus routes have received mixed reviews, with a group of residents in South Launceston petitioning the City of Launceston Council to change the relocation of one of the new stops.

According to the petition, which has acquired 29 signatures, the relocation of bus route 147 to run through Ainslie Grove poses a "very serious" safety concern to residents.

This, according to the petition, is due to the lack of speed bumps, narrowness of the street and the amount of concealed driveways on the road.

The stop has been moved from its previous spot along Gascoyne Street.

A Department of State Growth spokesperson said the routes had been generally well received.

"We are aware of the petition to the City of Launceston Council on the proposal to relocate this stop to Ainslie Grove and await the decision of council on this matter, noting that it is only listed for acknowledgement at the council meeting of 23 January 2020, not a decision," they said.

The spokesperson said the change in streets was necessary to meet wheelchair and disability accessibility standards.

"Even without moving this stop, buses will continue to travel via Ainslie Grove to access Gascoyne Street as occurred under the old network."

The spokesperson said State Growth did not receive any concerns about the stop change during its "extensive" community consultation process for the new routes.
