Two Tasmania Police officers were called in for public question time as tensions continue to grow between Westbury residents opposed to the prison site and Meander Valley Council at meetings.

Public question time at the council's meeting on Tuesday was again dominated by the proposed project and mayor Wayne Johnston said question time was cut short for others items at the December meeting.
The officers presence came after the October, November and December meetings question time was extended and councillor Johnston's claim last year the public was not adhering to council's legislation and it needed to be respected.
This time questions related to the proposed prison site at Birralee Road were answered separately to other questions from the gallery.
Questions were on the state government's promised postal survey about the prison, the council representing ratepayers wishes and the economic implications on the Valley Central Industrial Precinct.
Linda Poulton said to save the public coming to the meetings every month to ask questions, a solution would be to be proactive and have another public meeting to answer everything.
Councillor Johnston said the council would discuss the possibility of hosting another public meeting.

However he said it would be put on hold as the new general manager John Jordan started at the end of the month and he wanted to allow him to settle in first.
The police officers sat by council staff and left after public question time.
