Taking on the side featuring six Australian representatives and T20 world cup squad member Annabel Sutherland, Tasmania's 198 just wasn't enough as Sophie Molineux showed class with a commanding 80.
The Tasmanian innings got off to a solid start as English import Hollie Armitage and the in-form Meg Phillips put together a 70-run partnership before the former was dismissed for 35.

A flurry of wickets - including Phillips for 30 - saw the Tigers slump to 4-102 but Nicola Carey pulled her weight again, amassing 73 off 86 to keep her newly-adopted side in the hunt as Molineux finished with 3-33.
Much like Tasmania's innings, a strong platform was the key to the chase as Molineux and Elyse Villani (44) compiled a 91-run stand before Meg Lanning came in.
Her Tigers namesake - Phillips, who took 3-26 - removed the Australian skipper for only four as a steady flow of wickets continued to fall but it would all be too late as freshly-minted Victorian Ellyse Perry (44 not out) and Alana King saw them home.
The two sides face off again at the same venue on Thursday.
