Tasmania's sole representative within the extended 25-player line-up, the 22-year-old former Riverside High School student is stoked to be considered one of the country's elite - especially given the limited opportunities presented for indoor in Tasmania.

"I didn't think I had the best nationals that I've had for the last four years so I just feel privileged to be a part of the group and a part of the process," Pearson said.

"I'm really excited but also scared for what the process is going to be - it's going to be an intense six months of training by myself."

Unusually finding out about her selection on Facebook, Pearson is looking to increase her gym workload, combining running and fitness with her outdoor season before a major training camp in August - where the final 12 will be selected.

Travelling with the victorious squad to the 2019 Vienna Indoor Classic but not playing due to illness, the Launceston City club president said despite the uncertainty of the world cup's location and timing, it's an exciting time for all involved.

"It's still pretty exciting because now we are working towards something whereas before there were a lot of questions up in the air.

"The fact that the squad is going to go to a training camp in August and the team will be selected out of that no matter when the world cup is - it's still pretty exciting."

To ensure her place in the final team, she will be up against three other goalkeepers - 2018 world cup representative Elizabeth Duguid and 2019 under-21 pair NSW's Zoe Newman and Queensland's Aymee Dowell.

Alongside her numerous hockey commitments, the teacher's aide was also a member of South Launceston's NTFAW premiership winning side in 2019, which she plans on returning to in 2020.

A breakout season last year saw her named in the NTFAW team of the year, selected by opposition coaches and featuring three Bulldogs teammates.
