The Josh Marshall, Scott Jaffray, Chris Murray, Chris Stubbs rink took no time adjusting to indoor conditions and ran out easy winners 34-14 over Mike Higginson.
Josh's rink was well supported by the Luke Marshall, Kraig Dann, Trevor Eaves, Daniel Carr rink who also won easily 27-12. The Port's Aaron Jago and the Eagles' Clinton Steers rinks went shot for shot throughout the 25 ends with the game ending in a 24-shot draw.
It was a similar story with the Paul Marshall versus Dean Martin rinks with the Eagles' Martin eventually winning 19-16.
Penguin missed a golden opportunity to consolidate third position on the ladder going down to cellar dweller Wynyard by three shots.
The Cats were always going to cause an upset at some stage of the season and they chose this game to do it. The win sees them off the relegation position on the ladder for the first time this season.
They have gifted that position to the Devonport Eagles.
They can thank the Andrew Woodard, Damien Symes, Peter Duckett, Graeme Weatherley rink for the win as they defeated Julian Brown 30-20.
Grant Crowe won 25-21 over Cameron Griffiths and Justin Redman had one up his sleeve over Jacob Brown. The Two Blues' only winning rink was Wayne Manson who finished 33-21 to the good of Tony Haneveer .
The question whether South Burnie could match it with Burnie was answered emphatically by the Burnie Tigers who won by 30 shots, scoring on three rinks.
Big winners for the Tigers were Patrick Smith, Joe Simpson, John Davis and Geoff Williams who were convincing 31-18-shot winners over Cameron Windram and Jeremy Turner with good support from Tony Simpson, Danny Patmore and Jake Wyllie who were much too strong for Josh Appleyard, defeating him 32-20.
Ricki Richardson was the only successful South Burnie skip defeating David Gamble 21-19. The loss by South and Penguin sees the gap for third and fourth position remain as it was with both clubs missing a good opportunity to consolidate.
The same could be said for Ulverstone who went down to Latrobe by 20 shots losing on three rinks. It was a good chance for the Robins to climb the ladder but they were found wanting.
Demons Tim Douce, Darren Silvey, Mary Beaumont and Kelly Mundy were the main scorers with their 28-18-shot win over Sam McLean.
Tim was well supported by big brother Greg who led his team of Graeme Moore, Chris Barber and Joe Skirving to a 26-17-shot defeat of Chris Dudman.
Garry Courtney had to fight hard for his 21-19 win over Eden Moore as did the Robin's Colin Willcox team who salvaged two points for the Robins by defeating Anthony Johns in a low-scoring game 19-18.
It is looking more like Burnie and Latrobe will be the grand finalists, now two games clear of the chasers.
