The sport is not as popular in Australia and Tasmania as it is in other countries around the world but it does not mean players were not treated to a quality pitch in the state's north-east.
Event manager Penny Sattler said the polo field was looking amazing for the players on Saturday afternoon.
"The guys were saying this morning it's the best field in Australia at the moment, so they're really excited to play," she said.
"It's really important for us that it's not just a great social day but an amazing field because it just makes it so much better for the horses and the players as well."
A new feature at this year's event was the option to be helicoptered in from Bridport to the field, to skip the about nine-kilometre drive.
Before the first match choppers could be heard flying overhead as a lucky few got an express ticket in the sky to the venue.
Ms Sattler said the helicopter transport was unique and was introduced last year but the location from the pickup had changed to Bridport.
In other news:
She said the event made a conscious effort to make sure it was fun and family friendly but when a match was on it was all about the polo.
The event is in its sixth year after Barnbougle was approached about putting in a field.
"It's quite similar to presenting a polo field to a nice golf course and we had the space for it...so we thought we should give it a go," she said,
"It's not quite that common in Australia but actually around the world there's quite a few kind of polo golf course resorts."
She said at an initial count crowd numbers appeared similar to last year year's event and she was pleased with the turn out again.
"We're really happy and it's a lovely day too," she said.
"It's been well received again which is amazing."
Ms Sattler said the Stella Artois Marquee was always popular each year.
She said this year they had added to it to make it even bigger to hold and cater for more patrons.
"It sold out again, so we're very happy with the response," she said.
