The location of other potential sites for the proposed northern prison has still not been revealed, despite right to information requests.

An RTI request from Labor to reveal the post codes of the state government's other identified sites was rejected.
A number of other potential sites were already released. However, it was only the sites owned by Crown Land that were revealed as potential other sites.

Those sites included Rocherlea, Wivenhoe and two at Latrobe.
Labor then submitted a follow up RTI asking for the post code and suburb of each site submitted for consideration through the expression of interest process.
The RTI also showed there was not any communication between employees of the Justice Department and Meander Valley councillors and staff between June 2017 and June 2018 regarding a correctional facility in the Meander municipality.
The information was denied because disclosure would release information that was considered to be confidential when it was submitted to the government.
The refusal said the disclosure of the information would be reasonably likely to impair the ability of a public authority or Minister to obtain similar information in the future.

Labor Lyons MHA Jen Butler said the government's refusal to release even the post code and suburb showed it was "hell bent" on on pushing ahead with the Westbury site, despite how some community members feel.
"The Liberal government is addicted to secrecy and dodgy deals," she said.
"They should immediately release the other sites or areas that have been considered, so people can have an honest conversation about where the prison should be built."
A government department spokesman said the RTI request was assessed by the department.
"The RTI officer assessed the level of detail requested and decided that if released it would make it easy to identify individual sites and therefore owners. As that information is commercial-in-confidence, the request was refused," the spokesman said.
"A similar request for the exact site addresses is currently under review by the ombudsman."
The government announced its preferred site was the Birralee Road one in September 2019.
The prison is expected to cost $270 million to build.
