A 36-year-old man has been charged by Tasmania Police over a supermarket burglary that occurred at New Norfolk on Thursday, January 16.

According to police, two people forced entry into the supermarket about 3am, stealing a "large" amount of cigarettes.
Later that morning, a white Subaru wagon was reported stolen nearby.

Police conducted enquiries and searched a New Norfolk property where they found the stolen car and cigarettes.
After recovering the stolen items, police charged the 36-year-old man with vehicle stealing, burglary and stealing.
Police are continuing investigations into a second suspect.
