Carrick Park Pacing Club and Burnie Harness Racing Club are the major winners from the first round of the government's Tasmanian community racing club infrastructure grants.

Nine grants totalling $143,000 across six clubs were announced this week, with Carrick handed $46,231 towards betting ring roof, bitumen, bench seating and lawn area improvements.
Burnie was successful in two grants and will receive a boost of nearly $50,000 as it prepares to upgrade its stewards rooms, swab box and fencing.

Devonport obtained $17,520 for underground power while St Marys, King Island both received four-figure sums towards fencing and pipeline installation projects.
Like Devonport and Burnie, the North East Pacing Club was successful in two grant applications.
"Racing clubs in rural and regional Tasmania are run by hard-working, committed volunteers, who contribute significantly to their local communities," Racing Minister Elise Archer said.
"These grants help to create an environment that promotes sustainable growth for the sector."\
