A woman and her dog have escaped injury during a structure fire on the state's east coast on Sunday evening.

The fire started about 7.30pm at the Scamander Tourist Park, destroying a lady's caravan.
The park's manager Wade King said the permanent resident has somewhere to stay.

Crews from Scamander, St Helens and St Marys attended the fire. At least five crews were at the scene, including a light tanker, along with a medium and heavy one as well.
It is understood the fire took about an hour to control. Firefighters limited the spread of the fire to the caravan, but damage was caused to a car adjacent to the fire.
There were gas bottles involved in the fire, but a Tasmania Fire Service spokeswoman said the exact cause of the accidental fire was still being investigated. The damage estimate is not known.
The park is not closed.
