Keyea Jane Leonard, 20, of Youngtown, pleaded guilty to three charges in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Monday.

Leonard, who is now 27 weeks pregnant, was charged with one count of driving without a licence, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and failing to have proper control of a vehicle.

On July 10 last year, about 8.30am, Leonard was driving a white Ford ute on Kings Meadows Road.

It was raining heavily and Leonard was the only person in the vehicle.

At the intersection of the Kings Meadows Link and Hobart and Quarantine roads, she braked, causing the car to skid and enter the intersection. Here, she hit Subaru sedan causing minor damage. She also hit a street light.

Pieces of wood flew off the ute and into a vehicle repair shop, further damaging two more cars. The ute had no insurance and was written off. No injuries were reported.

Leonard was selling wood with her partner as a form of income and was driving it to a location where it could be advertised. Her lawyer said it was a very scary incident for her and acknowledged driving with no experience was a poor decision.

During sentencing Magistrate Sharon Cure took into account Leonard being a young offender with no prior convictions, her early guilty plea, her pregnancy and living off Centrelink benefits.

Leonard was convicted and fined $500 and ordered to pay the $85.86 court costs and levies.
