It is unknown when the next steps in establishing AFL and AFLW teams for Tasmania will be undertaken.
A business case prepared by the AFL Taskforce was received by the state government for review on December 20, 2019, but the government on Monday would not confirm when this review would be finalised or when the Taskforce's recommendations would be released to the public.
A government spokesperson said the government was taking the time necessary to fully review the report.
"Once this is completed, consultation with stakeholders will occur with details and the next steps communicated," the spokesperson said.
The Taskforce's United We Stand campaign released a petition in support of Tasmanian AFL and AFLW teams which was signed by 64,232 people at the time it closed, surpassing a goal of 50,000 signatures.
A Legislative Council inquiry on AFL in Tasmania established in November 2018 is yet to hand down its report.
