The Examiner understands that leaked emails have indicated the video game retailer will close about 20 stores nationwide later this month.
A number of EB Games stores, including those at Dandenong (Victoria), Blacktown (NSW) and City Cross (South Australia) have been removed from the EB Games website's store locator.
In other news:
Customers in areas affected also appear to have received 'closing down' promotions via email.
Despite the closures, both Launceston's Brisbane Street and Kings Meadows stores have not been de-listed.
EB Games stores in Burnie, Devonport and Hobart also appear to have been spared from closure.
This comes after fellow retail giant Harris Scarfe retained their Launceston store after announcing a number of closures on the mainland last week.
